Moonlight Visitor

"You'll catch a cold down there.." He whispered gently, giving her a light tug on her arm. "Here, you can lay down in my lap." She sat up slowly, blinking at him a couple of times. After a reassuring smile from him, she accepted his offer and quietly laid her head down in his lap. His body was warmer and softer than the cold, hard floor, making it easier for her to get comfortable. Mike took the flame ring and put it back on his wrist, and leaned back against the wall. He stroked her hair a couple of times, closing his eyes with a smile. "Good night, Diana."

Mike stayed like that for a little while longer. His mind drifted off to various different thoughts, though his main wonder was what they were going to do once everything settled down. Before his mind came to the conclusion, he had already dosed off.



At that time, just about everyone else in Gizmo's space ship had gone to bed. Nobody knew exactly how long they were cruising in the deep space, but it was probably night time back on Mobius. Not expecting such a long voyage, they weren't entirely prepared to sleep. They had to make do with sleeping bags and makeshift hammocks and beds out of whatever material they had. In the end everyone had found a comfortable spot to turn in.

The only ones awake now were Gizmo and Perseus. Though the lights were dim, giving the deck a night-ish feel, Gizmo felt the need to stay awake. And as long as Gizmo was piloting the ship, Percy had to be there to guide him. As time went on, they too were beginning to feel fatigued.
"...So, how're you feeling, Percy?" Gizmo asked him, trying to start up a conversation.
Percy's eyebrows bounced up. It took him a moment to realize what he was referring to. "Oh..I'm feeling much better now, thanks." He said. "How about you? Aren't you getting tired?"
"Pshh. I can't sleep at a time like this.." Gizmo scoffed. "As long as they're out there, I can't stop worrying."
Percy sighed. He knew exactly how he felt. "When we do catch up to them, you'll need every ounce of your strength. It'd be wise to rest up when you can."
"I know, I know..." Gizmo huffed. "It's just...I dunno, I just can't help it." He then felt the rabbit's hand resting on his shoulder.
"Trust me, I know what you're going through." Perseus said. "It's not easy. But that's why we've gotta be on top of it all. If we keep pushing ourselves non-stop, then we're never going to make it through."
Gizmo stared at the console in front of him, then outwards into space. "...Alright. I'll put the ship on autopilot for now." He said. He pressed a few keys before standing up from the chair. Feeling stiff from sitting down for so long, he took a moment to stretch his arms and legs. Percy stood up and did the same, before they both headed off the bridge.

"So...Are you okay with all of this?" Gizmo asked, with a hint of concern in his voice.
"Okay with what?"
"Well, the whole deal with Lucretia." He answered. Percy gave him a blank stare before he continued. "Well I mean, I know she killed your parents, kidnapped Diana and Mike and almost killed you and Smash, but she's still your own sister. Doesn't the thought that you might have to kill her bother you a little?" Gizmo faced forward, with a disheartened look on his face. "It may not be my place to say, but if it were me, I'd have a lot of trouble if I were in that position...I'd be conflicted."

Gizmo could only stare in stunned silence. Putting a new light on things, he felt overwhelmed by this new information. "So she...she's been possessed?" He asked, finally. "Is there...any way to bring her back?"

Gizmo stayed silent for another few moments. Even though it didn't sit well with him, he knew he was right. Diana would completely break down if she ever knew. "Alright...then, let's just keep this between us then." He said, quietly.

Smash mumbled something unintelligible before turning over a couple more times. Stopping on his back, his eyelids slowly rose up halfway; his gaze shifting around groggily. "...Where...? Oh...right." He muttered as his mind caught up with the situation. He slowly sat up, "Nngh...What time is it?" He asked no one in particular.
