Moonlight Visitor

Luna yawned and stretched a little when she was finally done with the dishes. They had all finished packing and eating what seemed like forever ago and now she was just trying to keep herself busy until Gizmo and the others returned with the improved ship.

Thinking that maybe the living room needed cleaning, she walked in to find Jessie slumped on the couch with a bored expression on her face as she watched something out the window. Curious, Luna looked out the window too.

Perseus was giving it his all..at a tree in the backyard. He kept using his special water moves on it, attacking it left and right with every tecnique he could think of. As she squinted to get a better look at exactly what he was doing, she was amazed at how worn the tree was getting. Almost all the bark was completely off of it, and it looked as though it would fall over any minute.

"How long has he been out there pumbling that thing?" Luna asked with surprise.

"Exactly 2 hours and 24 minutes." Jessie answered simply, not taking her eyes off of him.

Luna grew worried for him. "That's not good in the condition he's in..He keeps this up, he'll kill himself.." she said aloud to herself.

She looked back at the determined rabbit outside. Even though she was worried for his safety, she knew he was only trying to better himself after the failure he and the rest of them made. Diana and Mike are now in the hands of the enemy. 'Who knows what kind of torture he's going through right now?..' she thought, and took one last look at him before returning to the kitchen.

Percy felt as though he was reaching his limit, but pushed himself further.

'How could I let that happen?' he thought angrily to himelf. 'I let that evil bitch get ahold of what she's wanted the most..how could I let Diana and Mike down like that?!'

He began to furiously punch the tree as hard as he could without stopping. 'I was supposed to be stronger than back then! If anything, I'm weaker than before! And now my family is in danger because of my foolish mistakes!'

Images of the smiling faces of his wife, children, Mike and Diana appeared in his mind. Exhausted, he gave the tree one last punch before falling to his knees in both physical and emotional pain. "I've killed them all.." he said aloud, the sides of his fists still against the tree.

"No you haven't.."

Percy's eyes grew wide in surprise. He looked behind him and saw Luna, holding a glass of ice water she had brought for him. He looked at her with a dull, emotionless mask. "Yes I have.." he argued lowly, hiding his eyes with his hair.

Luna sighed and got on her knees to look at him eye to eye.

"Listen...There's still hope left." She told him. "As long as Smash is on Animas, we have a chance at saving everyone. I'm sure he's over there doing his best to help your family. And you have to do your best, too; Everyone will be counting on you to lead them to Animas and save Micheal and Diana. We may have made a mistake this time, but as long as we still have a chance, we should take it before it's too late."

Percy could only stare at her as he took in all that she said. He knew she was right, and began to calm down. After a deep sigh, he closed his eyes and relaxed his body from the tension he was feeling.

Luna smiled at him and handed him the glass of water. He gladly accepted it, and took a few big gulps before finally speaking.

"Forgive me. Its just..I've been waiting 13 long years for Diana to finally reach this planet. I thought that maybe she could live here among you mobians for a chance to live out a normal life..But when Lucretia came into the picture, it was a chance I had to not only save Diana for good, but to finally save my people. To have that in your grasp to only fail in the end..how else am I supposed to act?" he explained as he stood up and paced with his back turned to her. After a moment, he stopped and stood still. Luna stayed silent with him, understanding the frustration and pain he was going through.

"But you're right. I shouldn't completely give up hope when there's still one final chance in the end."

He looked over to Luna with determination. "Thank you for your words. If it wasn't for you, I'd still be beating the hell out of that tree." he added jokingly.

Luna smiled and shook her head. "You're very welcome."

Suddenly, the back door reopened, and Splice walked outside. "Hey Percy! Glad to see you back on your feet again." He called out, grinning widely.

"Splice! Are the preparations complete?" Perseus called back.

"You betcha! We're ready to take off as soon as everyone's on board!"

Luna looked back and smiled at him, giving him an urging gesture to go on and take the chance she spoke of.

The brown rabbit bowed his head in gratitude to her before setting off after the others.

"Splice?" he called after he came through the back door. The house was getting a little dark inside as the sun began to set lower and lower.

No one answered, so he made his way to the other end of the house and opened the front door.

"Spl-" He cut himself off, amazed at the sight before him. In the front yard, was Gizmo's spruced up air ship, ready to take them to Animas. A small smirk crept up on his face as the excitement and hope began to grow. 'Yes..We can actually do this..' he thought, almost crying tears of joy.

"Hey Percy! A little help here?" he heard Jessie yell, bringing him back from his hopeful thoughts.

Splice, James, Jessie and Pearl had their hands full from everything they packed for the mission.

"Sorry! Right away!" he said sheepishly, and hurried over to help them so they could get the ship moving already.

((Actually, Gizmo had parked back in the field where they met Lucretia, since I don't know if the airship can really fit in his front yard. Though I guess it could be parked on the road..))

It wasn't long before they finally loaded the ship with all the supplies they needed. "Alright, Is everyone ready?" Gizmo asked as he stepped into the storage room, where the others were taking a short rest.

"Yeah! I think so." Splice said.

"Great then. We should get going as soon as possible." He turned and left, heading back to the bridge.

As the ship's engines started back up, Luna stood outside the door, waving goodbye to them.

Whaddya mean "Keep" screwing up? That was only the first time since we got back, and I don't think we were having much trouble with consistency back then. Really, it's fine. We'll go back and fix it up later. It's not too big of a deal.
