WT: Topaz The Hedgehog VS Smash The Echidna (Winner: Smash The Echidna)

Smash was trying to conserve his energy, slowing his breathing to a steady pace. "You wish. It ain't over...till it's over." He said, in a somewhat calm voice. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, soon opening them as he exhaled, trying to calm himself and focus better.

Alright... Your move.
Topaz raised his hand and weakly gestured for Smash to attack. He was definitely getting weak, but he'd make the best of this match's end if it was the last thing he did.

Smash waited a few minutes before making a move. He was exercising his breathing, trying to keep his energy steady and control it easier. It was working, as he was feeling a bit more energy coming back to him. He opened his eyes, and fixed his gaze on Topaz. He walked towards him, rather calmly. Seeing how we both are worn out, taking a safer, slower approach from now on would be wise. He thought. It should also help me get close to him if I don't look like I'm going to attack the moment I start moving.

Topaz smirked. He had a hunch as to what Smash was trying to do, and he needed to take advantage of any openings if he was going to win this. He dashed forward, stumbling at the beginning, and dealt a right hook to Smash's face as hard as he could at the moment.

As quickly as he could, Smash swung his arm to deflect Topaz' punch, and with his other hand, tried to jab him in the stomach as hard as he could at the moment.

The punch threw Topaz backwards slightly, but he was able to keep his balance. The last of his super form flickered away, and his fur and flesh returned to their normal colouring. The storage ring for his weapon slid off of his wrist and landed flat on the ground. He slowly bent down to pick it up, keeping a careful eye on Smash. All the while, a grin rested on his face.

Smash was going to kick him in the face when he bent down, but he stopped. He caught a quick glimpse of that grin, and he froze. [i]Wait...Why is he grinning like that?...I think I know what he's up to now...[i] He backed off a few steps, keeping a close eye on him.

You catch on quick, huh?
Topaz stood up straight once more, annd released his weapon. He kept a firm grip on the handle, circling his thumb around the switch used to launch the spikeball.
I don't expect you to be too familiar with traditional super forms, but powering down from one isn't all that bad. In fact, it provides a handy little boost to compensate for the energy loss. Like I said before... I can go for hours.
((Just so you know, I'm not trying to be cheap. This "boost" was established in the Archie comics, as mentioned on this page.))

Smash bit his lip. ...Dang it...I'm always just one step behind. He thought. There's gotta be a way to take him down..It seems like all this time, I've actually been HELPING him. What do you do against a guy like that...? His mind was racing. Now was the time to have a plan.

Topaz leapt into the air and fired the spikeball towards Smash, not wasting a second.
I should consider myself lucky. Smash is too good a fighter, and I'm going to need every advantage I can get if I ever hope to beat him.
