Moonlight Visitor

((Sorry it's not much.))

"W-What happened!?" Gizmo cried out when he saw them. They rushed over to him, Gizmo took Diana out of his arms while Lina checked him after he had gotten shocked.

"I-I don't know..." Mike stammered. "Something happened..Diana started screaming and she fainted. I-I tried to help her, but something happened when I touched her, and It felt like I was getting electrocuted..."

"I'm not feeling anything now," Gizmo said. "But I think it might have something to do with her necklace. Let's go upstairs."

"Are you alright, Mike?" Lina asked, worriedly.

Mike simply nodded, still very shaken up from the event. The group headed upstairs, and into Gizmo's room. They laid her down in his bed, and Gizmo began to check to see if she was alright. Mike sat down on the floor, staring blankly at the bed.

Lol. Its alright. Ill go ahead and do the whole explaining thing then you bring Smash in. :p

Okay, then.

"W-what on..earth...!?" Gizmo was completely bewildered, now.

"W-what does t-this mean...!?" Lina stammered, taking a few steps away from the window. Almost as if responding to her question, there was a loud knock on the door.

"Come in!" Gizmo said, turning around. The door opened to reveal his father, who stepped inside and to the side, allowing one more person to walk through. Everyone's eyebrows shot up when they saw who it was.

"It looks like I was too late." The blue echidna said, frowning at the group. "I have some bad news for you all..."

"S-Smash..." Mike whimpered.

"Do you know what's going on?" Gizmo asked, now looking more concerned than scared.

"You already went and messed with the necklace, didn't you?" Their eyes widened in surprise. "I thought so...Listen, we're in trouble, now. Mike, remember that mysterious guy last night?"

Mike nodded quickly. "Yeah..."

"I saw him again." He said. "This time, he actually decided to talk to me."

"Really?" Mike asked, standing up. "What did he say?"

"He told me much about what's really going on here. Now listen, this may be a bit hard to wrap your mind around, but..." He paused, thinking about how to explain. Everyone found themselves leaning forward, waiting to hear what he had to say. "Mike. This whole thing WAS a setup. But apparently for a good reason. You were chosen to be Diana's "Protector", or "Guardian", if you want. She is indeed not from this place, and the man told me that she is better off not knowing about her past. But you were chosen to protect her, because of an ancient prophecy that spoke of you: You are the one that holds the power to hold back that monster in Lina's dream."

Everyone stared at Smash in shock. Mike was sweating bullets, staring at him with his jaw hanging open. Nobody could even come up with a response.

"Despite Mike's lack of experience in this type of thing, he has been chosen." Smash continued, directing his explanation towards everyone now. "Now whether this monster is within Diana or her Crystal or not, he didn't make that clear. However, Mike is supposed to protect her no matter what. Now the PROBLEM is..." He glanced towards the window. "The man also said that 3 warriors and their leader are coming for her. We can't let them get to her. I don't know what will happen, but we can't let it. Though this wouldn't be so much of a problem seeing how they can't detect her...unless what you guys just triggered happened."

Now Gizmo was sweating bullets. He gulped loudly, realizing the huge mistake he made.

"The necklace is an artifact of her people. He said not to let any outsiders mess with it, or even allow it to come off her neck." He said. "Now that you've done just the opposite of what he said, I think those warriors are on their way right now."

"W-What do we do, then!?" Mike stammered. He was literally shaking with fear.

"Relax, first of all." Smash said. "Though this is very serious, we need to keep our cool." He then glanced over at the bed. "Whatever happened, I guess it rendered her unconscious, didn't it?"

Gizmo nodded. "She'll be okay. It's just like before." He said.

"Good. Now everyone, get some rest. We have a meeting to attend to first thing in the morning." Smash said, turning around to face the door. "We need to prepare." He then walked out of the room.

"But you can't keep this up, Mike." Lina argued. "Just when do you plan to sleep? You've been up for 24 hours straight, possibly longer than that!"

Mike closed his eyes. He knew she was right, but he just couldn't get to sleep even if he wanted to. "I want to make sure she's safe. Someone's gotta keep watch, after all." Lina opened her mouth to argue against that statement, but Mike interrupted her. "Remember, those warrior guys are most likely on their way right now. What if something happens? I'm her guardian, now...I gotta look out for her."

"Who's going to be your guardian, then?" Lina asked, putting her hands on her hips. This question took Mike by surprise. "You've been overworking yourself all for her cause. I'm sure she's grateful and all, but you can't keep this up. If those guys DO come tonight, do you really think you can fight them off by yourself when you haven't had a wink of sleep since the night we arrived here?"

Mike lowered his head. "...Never takes long for you to hit the mark, does it sis?" He said.

"I'm just worried about you." Lina said, lowering her arms. "You haven't been yourself ever since Diana came around. Even if you are her guardian, you still need to take care of yourself. What good is a guardian who can't guard anyone because he's too tired to do anything?"

"She's right." Gizmo's voice sounded from the other side of the bed. He was laying in a sleeping bag, and overheard the two. "Besides, if something happens, we're all in here. We can look after her together, so don't force yourself to stay awake."

Lina looked over at Mike, giving him a look urging him to listen.

Finally, Mike gave in. "Alright, alright. I'll try to get some rest." He said, standing up. He hadn't realized just how tired he was until he decided to try and stand. His legs barely had any energy to support his weight for a few seconds, and he almost fell back down on the chair. He then laid down in the sleeping bag that was laid out for him. Lina laid down next to him in her own sleeping bag.
"Good night, Mike." She said.

"'Night, Lina." He mumbled, staring at the ceiling with his eyes half open. He wasn't sure if he would be able to fall asleep or not, but he was slowly feeling sleepier the longer he laid down.

This is just part 1 of my part. I’ll do the rest when I get the inspiration..

Diana's eyes opened wide, and she sat up in the bed. She looked around frantically, wondering where she was at. When she saw Mike, Gizmo and Lina asleep on the floor, she started to calm down.

'I must've..went unconscious again.' she thought, and started to feel her body relax.

She remembered something, and quickly put her hand on her chest where her necklace should be.

'My necklace..the gift from my father.' Diana was distressed from the only memory she had from her previous life. So much was confusing her..she needed to be somewhere to think. She looked over to the window, and saw the familiar white light from the moon shining through it.

The moon made her feel so relaxed and calm..maybe it could help clear her head and think things through.

Quietly, the light purple rabbit sat at the edge of the bed, and tip toed over the sleeping cats to the door. Before she turned away from the room, she looked over at Mike and smiled fondly at him. "I'll be right back." she whispered.

Diana did her best to navigate through Gizmo’s house in the dark. She didn’t want to turn on any lights and wake up his parents. She carefully unlocked the front door after knocking into things a few times, and walked outside. She made her way to the log her and Mike sat on earlier, and looked up at the big white moon.

Mike woke up in a daze. Something didn’t feel right. And even though he was dead asleep, he felt like something tugged on him to wake him up. He looked over at Gizmo’s bed to check on Diana, and his heart sank. He shot up and ran towards the door.

“No..they couldn’t have gotten her! They can’t….I was supposed to protect her!” he yelled with tears forming in his eyes as he ran down the stairs and out the door.

“Diana!” he screamed as soon as he was outside, not noticing she was in the front yard.

Diana jumped from the sound of Mike’s cries of despair.

“Mike! Mike!!” she screamed, trying to get his attention so he could see she was alright. Mike’s ears shot up, and he saw exactly where she was. All at once the despair and anger towards himself dissipated, and he smiled with relief, tears still in his eyes.

"I shoulda known you wouldn't stay asleep, Mike." Gizmo shook his head. "But ya didn't have to go and wake everyone else up as well!"

"You nearly gave us all heart attacks." Lina said, clutching her chest. "We were worried that something had happened."

Smash was staring at the two with his eyelids half open, pretty annoyed that he was woken up for nothing. He then noticed something, and his eyes directed towards the moon. 'Oh. Something Did happen.' He thought. 'The moon's back to normal...Is that good or bad? Hard to tell at this point...'

"S-sorry..." Mike and Diana apologized at the same time, looking down.

"If everything's alright, then we should go back to bed." Gizmo's father stated. "You have a long day, tomorrow." He walked back inside, soon followed by everyone else, leaving Mike and Diana alone again.
