The Battle Of Kaoru! ((The Chapter Version))

Yami was sitting up against a tree with her hand on her sword’s handle with Kaomi sleeping in her arms. Pearl was fast asleep on Smash’s shoulder, and Kyle had his hand on his sword like Yami with his eyes closed. Smash and Yami stayed awake in silence in case there was any danger.

“Heh..” Yami smiled at her daughter and Pearl. “Fast asleep already when all of this bad stuff is happening. Looking at them sleeping peacefully is almost making me forget the evil that’s here..”

Smash nodded, smiling a bit himself. "I know just what you mean." He said. "With all that's been going on, I guess nobody realized just how tired they were." He glanced around the area. The only ones awake now were him and Yami, aside from Kikyo who was still making that arrow. And it was hard to tell if Kyle was awake or not. Though he was sitting up straight as if he were awake, his eyes were shut and he hadn't budged an inch for quite a while.

While Smash was looking around, Yami just stared at the now dim fire with distant eyes. She didn't want to show it, but she was scared about the upcoming battle with Kaoru. 'Will we be able to defeat her? And if we do..can Taelor survive through it?'

A twig broke close to them, making Smash and Yami jump and Kyle open his eyes. It was Kikyo. She stood a few feet away from them with the arrow and the box with Kaoru's soul in both hands.

"It is done." she said.

Smash stood up. "Yes." He said, clenching his fist anxiously. 'Freakin' Finally. I thought we were ALL gonna fall asleep waiting for that dang thing to be done.' He thought. "Now, we've only got until tomorrow evening to pull this off." He said. "We should move as soon as possible."

Kyle stood up. "Indeed." He then noticed the arrow in her hands...There was only one of them. "This will be risky..We have only one shot." He said, frowning.

"I know..." Smash said. "All the more reason we need to be careful and precise..."

Pearl woke up, now finding herself on the ground. Smash apparently forgot that she was leaning on him. "What's wrong? Is it finished?" She asked, sleepily.

"Yes." Yami answered her. She looked down at her daughter who was still sleeping soundly in her arms with a soft smile. "Kaomi..Kaomi dear, its time to wake up." she cooed and shook her awake.

"Mommy?..." Kaomi whispered and yawned. "We going to get Taelor back now?"

"Yeah. But listen. I need you to be good and stay with Pearl again tonight while mommy fights. I don't want anything to happen to you." she explained, and kissed the top of her daughter's head.

Yami stood up and handed Kaomi to Pearl. "Keep her safe please."

Pearl nodded. "No problem Yami."

"Are we ready?" Kyle asked.

Everyone nodded.

"Alright. Follow me and keep up!" Yami said before running off.

((I see. So Pearl's staying behind this time, huh?))

((No, she's following too, she's just gonna protect Kaomi during the fight on the sidelines.))

Smash took a stick from the campfire and put out the rest, before following everyone else off to the final battle. He ran close to Yami so that he could light the way.

Yumi's eyes grew wide with amazement. Even Sesshomaru looked a bit surprised as well.

"Wow.." was all she could say.

'That was close..' Kaoru thought nervously. She looked distressed for a moment but quickly returned to her cocky self.

"I thought you all were trying to save this demon slayer girl. If you keep this up she'll die along with me. This is her body, not mine."
