PostThe End of a Historic Monument

Very recently, in fact just a few days ago, I discovered something surprising to me. 4Kids.tv is no more. As of November 2012, they shut down for good. Their site is completely gone; their forums, their cheesy games and confusing layouts, everything.

....I'm rather shocked. This news kind of...saddens me. For those of you who didn't know, I was once a member of the Sonic X forums on 4kids. Dating way back to February 27th, 2006. That place...that place was my online home. It was the first forum, the first site, the first community, I ever became a part of. That is the place where I first created developed my characters, and it's the place where I met so many wonderful friends, and some of the people who are most important to me aside from my own family. In general, 4kids was pretty cheap and lousy with it's censoring of just about everything and full of immature kids who make everything into a big deal, and staying there so long wasn't good for my characters development out of recolored sues. But looking past all of that, it was a haven for us kids. I can't tell you how much fun we had back there. If it wasn't for 4kids, I wouldn't have met some of the people who've made me who I am today. Heck, if it wasn't for 4kids, there's a pretty big chance that I wouldn't even be here right now.

Unfortunately, when 4kids changed, I lost contact of a lot of my good friends. Even though I, and many others left the site before 2010, I still had the nostalgic urges to go back there. I wanted to return someday, because it still felt like home. Unfortunately, when I eventually tried to, my account was screwed up and my password didn't work, so I could only lurk and view old threads. That was good enough for me.

Now, all those old memories are gone. All the old stories and roleplays, the fun threads and conversations, the heartwarming moments that showed just how close we all were...are gone without a trace.

I feel pretty bummed about it, but there's nothing to gain in lingering in the past. Gotta keep moving forward, you know?

On a lesser nostalgic and a more important related note, I also discovered that Myspace totally destroyed itself. No, the site's still there, but what they have now is just disgusting in comparison to what it used to be.

Why do I care about Myspace? Because a lot of important things happened on there as well as 4kids. While it isn't as nostalgic, it held a lot of old roleplays, such as the original version of The Battle of Kaoru, and the following episodes in my series: Episode 5, Episode 14, Episode 26, A few Lost Episodes that I've been trying to validate, Episode 28, Episode 31, and finally Episode 41. The entire story arc between Splice and Cymbeline happened on there as well, but since AngelWings left long before this incident, I'd lost the RP as well.
Still, that's a lot of crap to just lose like that. I barely managed to salvage some of it, either by saving it onto Microsoft Word or just taking notes of the main events. While 4kids saddened me, This flat out pissed me off. . . . There was no reason for this kind of change. And frankly, nobody wanted it in the first place. People would protest, but there's barely any room for communication on there anymore. It's so stupid it's infuriating.

Are just the forums gone, or did 4kids itself just get wiped off the face of the earth?

I think the only thing remaining from 4kids is their Saturday morning program, and even that's unclear at the moment. Their entire site was wiped from existence.

Nonsense. Even if the forum went kablooey, all the memories of the times you spent there are still with us. All of your friends (well, most) from those days are still around and kicking today. Besides, 4kids revamped and rebooted its forums many times since those days, so technically all those stories and people were already gone from that site.

Anyways, I did some investigation, and 4kids Entertainment apparently had some issues with bankruptcy (remember that?) and was eventually reincorporated into 4licensing Corporation. So they're not completely gone, just trying to pick themselves up.

That's not completely true either. While a lot of things were lost for good, there were still many things that came back. For the most part it was just hard to find them when you couldn't log in and view your subscriptions.

also, 4Licensing Corporation? Wow, didn't see that coming. I barely even remember the bankruptcy issue.

I was never really on 4kids, but from what my sister Alestar  told and showed me, it was a great place to rp and it was indeed a shame that it changed for the worse. Sad.As for Myspace, I rped there for a couple of years and I loved it, until its first changes which little by little became unnecesary and stupid, in my opinion. Even IF the website would've remained intact, something else would've ended its wonderful reputation: Its immature members. Things were getting pretty screwey in that place, People were constantly reporting one another because of 'art copyrights' or if you happen to have had a random picture of 'Sonic the Hedgehog' that so happens someone else had it too, people would just lost their dang minds -.-.  Stupid comments as in: "Oh Im the real Sonic, you're not" began to started trouble which drove many people to just drop out of the SONIC rp world in the site and change to some anime rp. Stupid wars between idiotic gangs such as: Shadow the Hegdehog "Leader of clan of cheese" vs Eggman "Co-Captain of Clan of butter" led to rivarly and badmouthing amongst members. Most importantly, one of the big reasons myspace went downhill was because people took their relationships to very innapropiate levels which  i shall not discuss the details of this here because of forum rules in language 'XD.....Sonic RPing became a mess there.

Not to mention with Facebook's sprouting popularity, Myspace's demise was unevitable. Regardless of the matter, myspace was indeed a wonderful place for me. I only happened to get along with those close to me and had the best time rping and writting new stories. :)Let us not see as Myspace's demise as a "awww :'(" more like a reminder of the wonderful friends we made there ^_^ to me, the stupid myspace never existed. only the cool one where i spent endless hours laughing and having fun with my imagination and RP Characters XD
