Why dosn't Amy have Hedgehog as a last name?

Why does she have rose?

I don't know. She used to be called (Amy) Rosie The Rascal. She does stand out from all the characters, name-wise.

Amy Rose sounds wierd. Amy The Hedgehog sounds wierder though...

Generally Sonic characters have names to reflect something about them - Sonic -> speed, Eggman -> egg-shaped man, Blaze -> fire powers, Silver -> fur colour, etc., and Amy's last name "Rose" reflects her colours - like rose colours (more on her outfit, but you get what I mean).

Yeah, I noticed that too. Though its true that she stands out the most out of all the characters name-wise. Except for maybe Eggman.

But Eggman is a human. So He shouldn't have a Human for a last name.

I'm just going to say this here - I consider "Dr. Robotnik" to be Eggman's real name, I think that was in a game manual as well but if it was then I don't remember which game it was. I don't know what his real first name would be, but it could be the "Ivo" name or anything. Even so, Eggman builds robots, hence "ROBOTnik", and I already explained the "Eggman" nickname.

I like Amy Rose better, but that is only because it seems normal. If her name was always Amy the hedgehog, then that would just be normal and Amy Rose would sound weird.
