The Treasure of Mercedes Island

Introduction

After an ancient artifact has been uncovered from the depths of the sea by a group of divers from Greenflower City, rumors about it quickly begin to spread around the region. However, only a week after the rumors started, the divers set out to submit the artifact to a famous museum overseas, and are shipwrecked on a deserted island--losing the artifact in the process.

One day, a bottle with a note inside drifts along the beach in Greenflower City. The words written on the paper were smudged and difficult to read, but parts of it spoke of the ancient artifact. Nobody could tell exactly what it said about it, causing the spreading rumors to vary greatly. Some say that it's a priceless jewel, others say that it can grant wishes. Some believe that it grants limitless power, while others think that the object is evil. Nobody knows for sure which rumor is true, however, there's one thing they can all agree on: It was lost on a deserted island.


Rules

Basically, the roles here all lead up to the cast going to this deserted island; whether they're searching for the artifact, the lost divers, or are simply passing through. They could even be shipwrecked themselves.
Now I trust most of you to already know the basics, so let's get down to the lesser known things.

1. Only I know where the artifact really is. Therefor, you cannot bring it up in a post and claim you've found it. The same goes for the divers. (If they're even still alive.)
   
2. Please try not to derail the plot. We can have a few "sidequests" along the way, but let's not forget what we're here for.
   
3. You can enter as many characters as you want, so long as you can keep up with them.
   
4. Try to allow everyone to keep up. If someone's lagging behind, wait for them.
   

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Now before we begin, let me hear who all is in. A list of characters is optional, but in order to keep track of everyone we should have a list of users first.

Did the Divers ever make it back to land after uncovering the object, or were they out there for an entire week before getting shipwrecked suddenly? And if they were shipwrecked before making it back to land, how exactly did the news about the object spread?

Ah, hm...

I'm thinking that yes, the divers did make it to land after uncovering the object. Word spread after they showed it off at the port. They left again because they were going to submit the artifact to a famous museum overseas, and that's when they got shipwrecked. With all their equipment lost, they tried to send an S.O.S. through a letter in a bottle. (Or at least one of them did). It ends back up in Greenflower City, and you know the rest.

But if they showed it off at the port, wouldn't people already know what the object was?

They can see it, yeah, but not even the divers knew exactly what it was. They had some speculations themselves on what it really was. It's the contents of the letter in the bottle that really got them wondering.

This sounds good, consider me in.
