Wrath from Beyond

Soon, they made it to the Shrine of the Master Emerald. Knuckles sat at the top of the staircase leading to the Master Emerald itself. He had a very concerned look on his face, as he was listening to the words of a cyan hedgehog before him. The hedgehog appeared to be explaining something to him, and also looked concerned. "Well, here we are." Smash announced. "And there's Knuckles. And Kyle as well. Wonder what's up?"

Sinu:... *Looks at the sword* That sword... i can sense incredible power from it...

Smash glanced at Sinu, then at the sword she was referring to. The Gemblade, a powerful sword that draws it's power from 6 magical gems, was strapped firmly to Kyle's back. "Ah, you mean the Gemblade?" He asked. "Yeah, you can tell just by looking at it that that's no normal sword." He then walked towards them. "Just lemme do the talking, okay?"

Sinu: Of course... i have to feed anyway, so i will be back later. *Turns and leaves *

Smash nodded. "I'll see you in a bit." He said. He then walked over to the shrine, and began to head up the stairs. Knuckles noticed him the moment he set foot on the staircase.
"Smash?" He asked, both eyebrows raised. Kyle turned around to see him, and looked a bit surprised himself.
"Oh my. Hello, Smash. What brings you here today?" He asked. He then noticed Lucky in his arms. "And who is this? Is he alright?"
"He'll be fine. Just need someone to look after him." He said. "Anyway, I came to discuss some things. But first, what was going on just now? Did something happen?"
Knuckles shook his head. "Kyle told me that he felt an evil presence in the air a little while ago. He's afraid that something's gone wrong." He said.
"Implying you didn't feel anything?" Smash inquired.
"Actually, I did feel something." He said. "I wasn't quite sure what it was, but it made me feel uncomfortable. But seeing you here after that is what makes me feel worried."
"Your arrival isn't a coincidence." Kyle stated, now giving him a serious look. "Tell me, Smash, do you know what is happening?"
Smash nodded. "Actually, I do. And that's why I'm here."
Just then, another person began walking up the steps. Smash turned to look at who it was, and realized it was Kyle's twin sister, Keela. "Hey, What's going on? Why's everyone looking so dead serious?" She asked. "And how did Smash get here?"
"Sit down, this is gonna be a bit of a long story. Probably'll take longer for it to sink into your mind." Smash cleared his throat, and began to tell them all the whole story.

Sinu: *Shapeshifts into a cat, sits close to the group listening, completely silent*

Soon, Smash finished filling everyone in on the details. The three of them looked rather shocked. "Yes, I know. It's a bit of a wild story. But hey, we've seen worse. The only thing I'm worried about is going down into the underworld. Now THAT'S disturbing to me." He shook his head. "But yeah, I'm gonna need some help here. Knuckles, We need you to watch over Lucky. We also need to be by the Master Emerald when we use the thing, 'cause it needs a lot of nearby energy."

Knuckles nodded. "As long as the Master Emerald doesn't react negatively, I'm fine with it. But where is this "Sinu" you mentioned? I didn't see anyone with you."

"She should be coming back soon. She left to get something to eat while I talked to you guys about the situation." Smash explained with a shrug.

Sinu: I'm right here. *Shapeshifts into her normal form* I'm nice and refreshed.

The three looked over at her. "Ah good, you're back." Smash said. He looked back at the group. "Anyway, while you watch over Lucky, we'll be going into the Underworld. Kyle, Keela, Would you be willing to help us?"

Kyle nodded. "Of course. This is not something we can easily ignore. I shall assist you in any way possible."
"Yeah, I mean this IS the underworld we're talking about here. You'll need all the help you can get." Keela added. "I don't think any normal person has ever gone there and back before..."
"Then we'll be the first." Smash said, trying to encourage her. "Thanks guys." He turned to look at Sinu. "Sinu, this is Kyle and Keela Tyris, two good friends of mine." He introduced.
Kyle turned to look at her, and politely bowed. "A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Sinu." He said.
"Yes, it's nice to meet you." Keela said as well.
Smash pointed his thumb up to the top of the staircase. "And that's the Guardian of the Master Emerald, Knuckles." He said. Knuckles simply nodded at her.

Sinu: Indeed... now... *pulls the red crystal out* A warning before we go. The realm itself produces massive amounts of negative energy. No matter what, do not fall victim to it. *Crushes the red crystal, at first nothing happens, then suddenly a red portal rips open in front of the master emerald, the sounds of feral animals coming out and heat like a desert coming from the portal*
