An Infant In Need

((I have absolutely no idea where to post this. Fan fiction seems to be the most appropriate??))




Hi. I'm Green Yoshi, and this colorful paradise is my home, Yoshi's Island. This is the home of all Yoshies. Together we eat, play and relax in the sun's soothing rays.
Today seemed like it was going to be a regular day on the island for me and my friends, but it turns out we were in for something big. Something that nobody would have expected. Something that would send us all on a chaotic adventure.

On my way to pick some fresh fruit for a picnic, I felt a huge THUMP on my back. Startled, I whirled around expecting to see Cyan Yoshi laughing behind me. (she has always been a bit of a prankster.)

I saw no one. Nobody I knew, anyway. What I did see was a human baby sitting quietly on my back. He wore a red hat and had a huge, bulbous nose.
I was shocked. I didn't know what to do. I just stared at the baby, and he stared right back at me. Who is he? Where on earth did he come from?

After a two minute staring contest, I decided to break the silence. "Who are you?" I managed to say. The baby, of course, said nothing. He just kept staring at me with big, round eyes. "H-How did you get here?" I asked again. I felt kind of stupid talking to someone who was incapable of communicating, but I was so confused and worried I couldn't really help myself. I had no idea what to do with the child, so I turned around and marched back to the Yoshi Village, where all my friends live. 'The picnic is gonna have to wait, I guess..' I thought to myself.



I brought the baby to the village and showed it to my friends. I was greeted with quite a bit of commotion.


"What's that?" asked Yellow Yoshi. "Is that our picnic food?"

"N-No...." I replied, scratching the back of my head. "It's a baby...I think."

"Where did it come from?" said Blue Yoshi, leaning closer to get a better look.

"I'm not really sure. I was picking out some fruits for the picnic, and I felt this big WHUMP on my back. I turned around and saw this baby sitting there."

"Maybe you gave birth to it! Maybe it's your baby!" Purple Yoshi jumped up and down in excitement.

"That's a human baby. He couldn't have given birth to that."

"Look at that big nose! And that silly hat! How goofy!"

"He probably fell from the sky! Maybe a cloud dropped him!"

"Should we adopt it?"

My friends continued to talk over the infant, who seemed to be a bit uneasy sitting in the center of a big crowd. It looked around at all the strange faces and began to sniffle a bit.

"Uh oh, it's starting to cry! Do something!"

Just then, Pink Yoshi stepped over to the baby and picked it up gently.

"Poor thing...He must be lost."

"How do you get lost in the SKY?"

"Do you think he has a family?"

Pink Yoshi rocked the baby back and forth, trying to put it at ease.

"He has a hat and some clothes. He must belong to someone."

"We should get him back home. His family is probably worried."

"But how?" I asked, watching Pink Yoshi cuddle with the baby. "He just came out of nowhere. We have no idea where his home is!"

The baby then stood up in Pink Yoshi's arms and started pointing to the east. I followed the baby's gaze.
"What's he pointing at?"

"Maybe he's pointing towards his home! He's trying to lead us there!"

I stared off into the distance for a few seconds. "You may be right..." I whirled back towards the group. "We should help him."

Blue Yoshi nodded. "Yes, we should. We can't just leave him here."

"Who's going to carry him?"

Red Yoshi folded her arms and scowled. "Not me! I don't want to have anything to do with that noisemaker. He looks like trouble."

"We should all carry him," said Blue Yoshi, being calm as usual. I always thought Blue Yoshi seemed much more rational and reserved than Red Yoshi. It's kind of hard to believe they're siblings.
"We'll take turns."

"All of us?" asked Brown Yoshi, sounding a bit worried.

I walked over to Pink Yoshi, who was still carrying the baby. "I'll carry him first. I'm the one who found him."

"That sounds fair," Pink Yoshi said, placing the baby on my back.



"Alright," I said. "I guess that settles it. Let's go!"

"Alright!"

"Fine.."

"I'm ready if you are!"

"Okay..."

"Couldn't we get something to eat first? I'm starved."

"We can eat along the way."


So, with the baby riding on my back, I went on ahead...

Well this is certainly a surprise.

It was rather entertaining. I'd love to see how you continue this.

Hi. Green Yoshi again. While following the baby's lead, I passed by the forest where I was once trying to pick fruit. On the ground I found a rolled up piece of paper. I picked it up, hoping it might provide some clues.



It looked like some kind of map, but I couldn't decipher it. I kept it anyway, though, in case someone else might be able to read it.



Right now I'm passing through the flower fields outside the village. The area seems very quiet and peaceful, which is good. The local shy guys are marching around aimlessly as usual.



Huh? What's this weird floating block? It looks awfully jolly...

"Hit me!"

Huh? Is it speaking to me?

"Hit me and I'll give you some tips!"

"Umm...okay."

How bizarre. It looks harmless, though, so I guess I'll listen to it. Maybe it knows something about baby or the map!
I'll just hit it with an egg...



"By holding (B) down, you can hover in the air for a short time. Make the extra effort!

"Huh??"

B? Extra effort? I'm not sure what on earth he's talking about, but I can hover in the air with my flutter jump. I'm not sure what that has to do with bees, though...
I couldn't really get any more information out of the block. I hit him again and he just repeated himself.



Well, moving on...



Huh, those are some weird looking flower buds over there. They almost look like lips..
Makes me wonder what they smell like.


"YAP YAP YAP YAP"

ACK! THEY'RE PIRANHA PLANTS!


"YAP YAP *gulp*"
mmfdhggffgfhh!


*GASP* Blargh! Phhbtha! Yuck!
Oh gosh, where's the baby? I lost it!
"YAP YAP YAP YAP"


"YAP YAP YAP YAP"
Oh, there he is. I hope he's not too freaked. Sorry, baby!
I guess there are a lot of dangers to be faced on this road...I gotta be more careful and alert.


ARGH, SHUT UP!

Ugh, I feel the need to shower now. Have you ever smelled a Piranha Plant's breath? Trust me, you don't want to do it more than once.

Let's just hope Green Yoshi never encounters a putrid piranha.

I can't wait till we get to the fuzzies.

I was too busy with my other Let's Play to continue it. (doing more than one LP at a time is always a bad idea!) I'm done said LP, though, so I can probably pick this up again soon.
